Finally Done

Both my presentations are done for this weekend. I made two new lessons to incorporate the technology that we Jennie said to use. Can I just say its weird saying your own name. I never had any other Jenny's in the same class. Anyways, I enjoyed the time I had in this class and I learned so many new things.I just hope all my work pays off. I can't believe it is the end of the semester. WOW! time seems to have flown by. I hope you enjoy my presentations this weekend.

My Final

I am happy to say that I am almost done with my project for App. I have a few things to gather for the smartboard use. But I am not worried and I feel that it will be good to show my fellow educators in Dec.

I think this project is useful for the different word documents is great. I learned a great deal and feel confident to use in the future. Man, I can't wait to have a classroom and really put those tools into practice. It is different for a substitute teacher. I have to use whatever the classroom has in store.

This semester  in observation hours didn't make subbing easy to do.  I didn't like it at all and felt it unnecessary considering I rather sub then observe someone. I did that in my undergrad and didn't think I would have to do it again.

Web Based Tools

Sype- this free so anyone can use it even the teenagers. You can do a lot with this site, video calling, group, text, and file sharing. This would be great in classroom if anyone is out for a long time from school.

Acrobat--is great for business or teachers wanting to share ideas. This is nice because you can share the files and read them from your mobile devices. Who wouldn't want to have that kind of access. You will never leave home with your work. I say that laughing...haha

Tinychat--I don't think I want to be a part of this community at all. I think this is for wannabes who think they know something. When it looks like mostly kids on this site. It could be a dangerous place for teenagers.

Meeting Burner--I don't even want to to register for this at all. But from the readings it seems to look for professional business men and women. Not something I could use in the classroom.

GotToMeeting--this would be great for college students who can't meet directly with a group. I am always so found in group projects. Not really!! I think it could work in those situations that are not planned.

Yugma--another site that is free and similar to rest. I am not sure what one would be better then the others to use. But i think the only way to really know is to use one of the sites. But right now I have no classroom so I can explore what one would be useful.

Webex--you can use it for free or buy for the upgrade. This site is good for trainings and web events you want to introduce to clients and employees.

I can"t say if I like one over the other from these websites. I am sure they all would be useful for the classroom. I always hear about Skype being the most popular one to use. I think it would be great if I could try them out in my own classroom but right now that is not going to happen. That is why I choose to let you know about each of the sites. You taake your pick what site would be benifical for your classroom.

Fabulous Search Engines

Academic Info   I wasn't thrilled with how slowly it goes. I clicked on some of the information that it supplies. Let me say that it redirects you into another website. I didn't understand why, because it doesn't give you information. It just says (error). I wouldn't use this in the classroom.
I did like how it is in alphabetic order. You know what content you want to look at. But honestly it should be updated on it's site.

Eric I have to say this is one of the best sites for academic journals with peer reviews I have found. I can always be sure to find information that is legit and has the reviews I need. I think this is great site.
The only problem I had was when the government was shut down this year.

Google Scholar  I had to use this site before in my undergrad. My professor wanted us to try this out because we had to find information on late writers and we would get more information. She also let use this for writing a paper in my literature class. I like the site and it would be great for ELA teachers in the classroom. Students could do research at home.

Voice Thread

https://voicethread.com/share/5063034/

Here is my voice thread I made. I had some difficulty with this. I couldn't figure really what to do at first. I realize getting to know these type of programs takes time. I am pleased to say that I am becoming more patient everyday with these new tools. I can't believe I have been figuring out this type of stuff. I hope enjoy my pictures because I do.Thanks for looking.

Welcome to my Thinking.

Welcome to my Thinking.

I made my video and I think it is pretty good. I am proud of it. I want to say I had fun and could have my students make one in middle or high school. This would be a great learning tool if they could produce a video in the content I was teaching. Expressing what they learn will probably stick more often then me lecturing to them. I also think this would fit into the part of Bloom's creativity.

Web quest update

So  I finally finished my second web quest. I had to do two of them so far in one semester. I am getting a double dose of Intro and Applications Tech. I don't mind at all. I am glad Jennie teaches me both. I am actually learning something.

I finally did get my magazine journalism web quest done. I can't believe I am doing this. I enjoy all the courses and my learning is only improving. Yeah for an older adult. I can't say this is easy stuff. But give me time and I can learn. Wish me luck!!!

Access

Access was so much fun. Jokingly, I say this because it took me forever to figure out the query's. I know I will use this for my own classroom one day but do you think I will remember when the time comes????? Makes me say, HMMM! Haha.

Did anyone else have a problem with the certain criteria you were suppose to put in? I had one hell of the time. I was not happy that it was a guessing game. I did go to YouTube and search for easier explanations.  I did get it done and had to recheck my work. That project took longer then expected to do. I am getting the hang of word more everyweek and I hope to be a pro, haha.

I am pleased to say I did accomplish the task once again. Yeah, for me!

Web Tools

It is amazing how much stuff is out there. We have so many opportunities to enhance students learning. Now if we just took the time to use all the great tools are students would have more hands on learning. They would be more apt to do more.

I really enjoyed looking through the Google Moderator. People get the opportunity to be heard in an online format that can reach thousands. When we think that are voice can't be heard this is a great way to use the Internet.

Penzu is great way to help students with their thoughts. I like this because you can use it as privacy for students to express comments, concerns and those questions that they don't want to ask in front of the class. I know that feeling all to well. I used to be the introvert person. I never asked much because I felt embarrassed I still get that feeling sometimes. I also like you don't have to have all those journals and have to worry about losing anyones.

When looking through these sites you have to subscribe to them to really view them. Their should be more indepth tourtials for people to look at. They don't always give the real overview because they want you to get involved by downloading the site.

WEB 2.0 Classroom Tools

So I looked into the 100 Best Web 2.0 and found some to be okay and others to be repeated similarities. All in all the wesites seem to be very useful for the clssroom.

My Picks:

VOKI has lesson plans and activites for the students. I liked how students can make very short videos. I could use this in grades 3-12 and have fun with new material.

POLL is another one I liked. I feel this would be fun for elections and math problems to work out. Sometime students don't want to say if their having troubles with certain problems. So if you do a poll you will see where the class stands. Then no one is being called out. You could review the problem for everyone.

PENZU is a private journal writing. Instead of students using a notebook the students get to write on the computer. It can be used outside and the teacher can connect with them on different levels of privacy.

DEVIANART is great for the creativity of projects. Students can either work alone or groups to come up with what a concept looks like to them. It can be used in all subjects and be fun to learn new concepts.

PREZI is a different kind of powerpoint. It has more interactive ways of doing a powerpoint and adds more flare to the ppts. I enjoy and have seen many collge students use this. I think that highschoolers would like to use this also.

Theses are my picks and how I would you these interactivley. I hope I will get the chance to explore these sites with my students one day.

Excel

I finally finshed my excel project. I found some great resources on youtube to help me. I couldn't figure how to do what i wanted on the readable tutorial. So I figured I would try my hands in learning a way that would work. I made a crossword puzzle and was able to insert pictures. It was not to long because I want to be able to adjust and modify for all different grades. I made a Halloween one that is fun to do. I am so proud of myself. Considering I am an older adult and learning technology that I sometimes don't think I can learn it. But I know now that I can do this and I will be okay. I can't believe that it took my all week to figure out that program. Excel is a program that has to be played with more often. This is something that I could use for the classroom and beyond. I think it could be helpful for highschoolers to explore.

Advanced word

I been exploring the adavnced word and it is not as easy as it looks. There are many things you can do that I never knew before. I am confident that I will be able to master it all. I believe once I am comfortable enough I won't have a lot of trouble. I figured out how to use hyberlink and now I have it in my powerpoint. Yeah for me!! hahaha. I sound like a kid that I mastered that. I can't get over all the stuff on word. I thought myself how to use word awhile back and figured I won't need to know anymore that that. Now I see i can do so much more to my documents and everything.

WebQuest

hello, I am working on my WebQuest and found out that it is used more often in classrooms. My webquest is on writing and I'm having my students become a reporter. What they will be doing is writing a two paragraph article and have a front page to match. I want their article to stand out on the front page. I am excited to be creating a webquest. Any ideas what I cold add to my webquest would be greatly appricated. I am always looking for new and exciting ideas.
